Whether you are considering joining a programme, volunteering your time, partnering with us or simply trying to understand what DRILL is about, we have answered some of the questions we receive most often.
DRILL Capacity Building Academy Limited is a personal and professional development institution focused on developing students, undergraduates, fresh graduates, young professionals and emerging leaders through structured learning, mentorship, accountability and practical application.
Our work spans personal development, leadership, career development, entrepreneurship, professional capability and social impact. At its core, DRILL exists to intentionally develop people, strengthen their capacity to thrive and lead, and equip them to translate personal growth into professional excellence and positive social impact.
DRILL was founded from a conviction that many young people possess significant potential but may lack the structure, guidance, mentorship and accountability required to translate that potential into meaningful performance.
What began as an initial 21-day personal development project for undergraduates evolved into a broader capacity-building initiative as demand and impact grew.
The DRILL PDP is the flagship programme from which the DRILL model emerged. It is a structured personal development experience designed to help participants develop greater discipline, clarity, self-awareness, communication confidence, personal responsibility and direction.
The traditional format runs for 21 learning days across a month, typically Mondays to Fridays, with short daily sessions, assignments, reflection and accountability. It is designed to be more than a lecture series. Participants are expected to learn, apply, reflect and grow.
DRILL primarily serves:
- Students and undergraduates
- Fresh graduates
- Young professionals
- Emerging leaders
- Entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs
Specific eligibility requirements may vary from programme to programme.
Where applications are required, prospective participants are expected to demonstrate their willingness and ability to commit to the programme requirements.
No.
While the original DRILL PDP Camp was created primarily around the development of undergraduates and fresh graduates, the Academy has evolved to serve individuals at different stages of their personal and professional journeys.
Our broader programmes are designed to accommodate graduates, young professionals, entrepreneurs, emerging leaders and other individuals seeking intentional development.
DRILL takes a holistic approach to development.
Depending on the programme, participants may explore diverse areas ranging from vision to discipline, to productivity, and to leaderhisp. The objective is not to teach everything at once, but to equip participants with relevant knowledge and capabilities that can be applied to real life.
DRILL is built around the belief that knowledge alone does not guarantee transformation. Our programmes therefore combine structured teaching with practical assignments, reflection, action-based learning, mentorship and accountability.
One of our distinctive features is the Build-Up Buddy (BUB) system, through which participants receive closer follow-up and accountability throughout the programme. We are interested not only in what participants learn, but also in what they do with what they learn.
A Build-Up Buddy (BUB) is an accountability and support person assigned to each participant within the DRILL Camp structure. BUBs help monitor attendance and participation, follow up on commitments and assignments, encourage consistency and communicate relevant progress to supervising instructors and programme leadership. They help create a culture where participants are not left to navigate the development process entirely on their own.
Mentorship is an important component of the DRILL ecosystem, but DRILL is broader than a conventional mentorship programme. We combine learning, mentorship, coaching, accountability, reflection and practical application to create a more structured development experience.
The format depends on the programme.
The traditional DRILL CAMP PDP has operated primarily as a virtual experience, with short daily sessions conducted through platforms such as Google Meet or equivalent platforms. DRILL also organises physical events, conferences, workshops, outreaches and other special-purpose initiatives.
The DRILL PDP is designed as a 21-day personal development project, traditionally delivered across a month on Mondays to Fridays. The exact dates, schedule, platform and requirements may vary between cohorts.
The DRILL CAMP PDP is free for any cohort. Applicants are encouraged to put their best of application.
DRILL is also committed to accessibility and may provide subsidised development opportunities, scholarships and social-impact programmes for underserved participants. Specific programme announcements will state the applicable requirements.
When applications are open, the relevant programme announcement will provide the application process and requirements. For programme enquiries and general expressions of interest, you may contact: drillcbacademy@gmail.com
Applicants should provide the necessary information requested for the specific programme, as failure to comply may reduce chances of being selected. Because some DRILL programmes are intentionally limited in size, application does not necessarily guarantee selection.
Where a programme is designated as a certified DRILL programme, participants who meet the applicable completion requirements may receive certification. Certification requirements may include attendance, participation, assignments and other programme commitments.
We believe impact should be measured by more than attendance. Depending on the programme, DRILL may use attendance records, participation monitoring, assignments, reflection exercises, participant feedback, performance reviews, testimonials and transformation reports to understand participant progress and programme effectiveness. The DRILL Camp Growth Report is part of this broader effort to capture the journey from participation to progress.
Completion is not intended to be the end of the journey. Participants may continue to engage with the wider DRILL community through events, mentorship, volunteering, social-impact initiatives, alumni activities and other opportunities as they become available.
We ultimately want participants to move through the cycle:
Learn → Grow → Lead → Serve → Develop Others.
The DRILL Academy Foundation is a special-purpose vehicle of the DRILL CAPACITY BUILDING ACADEMY created to help participants translate what they have learned into practical acts of service and community impact.
Through initiatives such as school outreaches, visits to orphanages and care institutions, engagements with correctional centres, youth development activities, community service and other purpose-driven interventions, participants have opportunities to turn learning into action.
The philosophy is simple:
What is learned in DRILL should find expression beyond DRILL.
Beyond the DRILL Camps, the Academy organises special-purpose learning and development experiences, including:
- Career and productivity webinars
- Physical growth conferences
- Upgrade & Productivity Summits
- Academic workshops
- Leadership and personal-development sessions
- Special conversations and dialogue sessions
- Community-impact initiatives
These events provide opportunities for participants and the wider community to encounter new ideas, develop relevant capabilities and connect with people committed to growth.
The DRILL Business Academy (DBA) is the enterprise and business-development arm of the DRILL learning ecosystem. It is designed to expose participants to areas such as entrepreneurship, business strategy, branding, marketing, finance, management, human resources, governance, organisational effectiveness and business growth.
The broader objective is to develop individuals who can contribute effectively to organisations, create opportunities and grow sustainable enterprises.
